A Thank You: To the OG Gymrat turned Marathon Runner
Dear Jeannie,
I don’t think I’ve ever spoken so much and so highly about someone who I have spent so little time with. Of course there is a glow of familiarity due to how much I love Kaitlyn and how much she loves you, but I have admired you since I was 21 years old which is perhaps one of the only wise decisions I made at that age.
You are exceptionally driven and ambitious while still remaining grounded. You are undeniably hard working and bright without ever being derisive or cold. Above all, you have created such a beautiful life for yourself, big enough for all your dreams, no matter how varied or evolving. You have created space for endless “becoming.”
And now you’re marathon training (after being my lifting inspiration for so long) and it makes me so much more excited to run mine because for me to follow in your footsteps in any way means that I am headed in the right direction. Anywhere you go, anything you do, you light the way. I think that’s what happens when you shine at everything you do.
I wanted to thank you for all your marathon running advice and also congratulate you on your pregnancy. (As if you couldn’t be any more badass). I remember when Kailyn told me and we both jumped up and down screaming and giggling, both firsthand and secondhand joy filling our entire living room, spilling out into the hallway. I think what I’m trying to say is that we couldn’t even contain our excitement of the possibility of even more of you in the world.
I am rooting for you and all your races and adventures always! So much has changed for me but that hasn’t at all.
Love,
Grace
